The Reformation led by George Lai George opens with a question: What happened October 31, 2017?? Halloween! Nope! It was the 500th year of the Reformation. (1517) Martin Luther nailed his thesis on a church door.. November 1st is recognized to be "ALL SAINTS DAY". How is the Reformation relevant to us today?? During the reformation there was an upheavals (changes on how people feel about God) and today we are going through upheaval/changes in Chinatown. BLESS FCBC How can we continue our legacy in Chinatown?  Liane Chuck tells us her group is about a 1.8/5 about feeling evangelistic with strangers. Share and Speak your Joy! The Gathering Shares their response to building a stronger community. Tommy Lim reminds us that we toured SRO's (Single Room Occupancy) many years ago and can arrange another visit; the non-english speaking people prefer the inconvenience of living in an SRO simply because they are in a community who speaks their language. Mic Fong notes the kids that join Day Camp and Youth Camp are not returning to Church. What/Who is following up with them? Is the Reception Committee doing what they need to do?; Overall the church is doing well, need to think about the future. Shirlene Tong says many members of The Gathering used to live in Chinatown and eventually bought homes and moved out of the area; members continue to come because the service/worship/fellowship is compatible to their needs; concern is will the next generation continue supporting FCBC; many of their children remain active Christians but go elsewhere/their own community.
