Jimmy Lim presents homosexuality through a biblical, scientific and societal lens.

Thank you Jimmy for sharing your research and identifying some very important *scripture

that signifies the views of homosexuality from the Bible. There are many biblical references

that claim homosexuality is "ungodly" - Which raises many questions. The Bible clearly states

that homosexuality is a sin. Romans, 1 Corinthians and high profile Christian leaders confirm

this and agree homosexuality is a sin which is not acceptable in most churches today. The

Christian response may be "welcoming, but not affirming", but how is this sin different than

other sins?

Per George Lai

i.e. Deuteronomy 21: 18-21 NRSV.  “If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him, then his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place.  They shall say to the elders of his town, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious.  He will not obey us.  He is a glutton and a drunkard.’  Then all the men of the town shall stone him to death.  So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid.”  So why don’t people cherry-pick this scripture to get rid of rebellious boys in the same way scripture is used to rid homosexuality?

Will God forgive this sin? Will God forgive homosexuality?

Jimmy also voiced that the environment influences a persons decisions and who they become.

Although the Bible doesn't really talk about the "attraction" between two people of the same

sex or any potential hormonal influences that may exsist while in modern times this has

partially become accepted behavior. So much so, our society has bridged the gap and all 50

states now accept gay marriages.

Scientifically and anatomically the nature in which we were born assumes that a man and a

woman should procreate and have children. Appears this is to be God's intention. Jimmy says,

"there's no Gay Gene" and to date there is no scientific proof there is a gene that determines if

someone is Gay or not.

A few things we know for sure. Not everyone agrees. Humans are guilty of sin. We are not

perfect. God is perfect. So...Affirm or not to affirm.

What does this mean to you?

What does this mean to our church? Is this a conversation we need to settle or put it aside?

Do you have a family member or loved one that is Gay? Are you Gay?

How does this affect your faith with God? How do you respond to others? How do you respond

to your loved one? How do you respond to God?

Or shall we agree to disagree?

The Sunday Gathering will meet May 27th and will form small groups to discuss this series further. Each group will address a few topical questions that will allow YOU to voice and hear the thoughts and concerns of others.

The Gathering is a time to listen but a vital part of it is to Respond :-)

Nelson Wong joins us this Sunday, May 6, and will define our Regional Affiliation

Who are we affiliated with? Why? What consequences are there should FCBC decide to make a change? What are the consequences should we stay where we are?

George Lai passionately suggest when sending an email (among ourselves) try to start with a scripture, like this:

"In the beginning was the word....and the person responding might say, "...and the word was God".

Bringing Scripture into your life can be golden.

Just Do it.

George shares a scripture and declares it The Benediction of Excellence!

Hebrew 13:20-21

“Now may the God of peace who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great

shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything

good, so that you may do his will, working among us that which is pleasant in His sight

through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever.”

Amen!
