July 1

Steve Lessler provides The Sunday Gathering with a excellent detailed count of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a struggle that began in the mid 20th Century. Steve claims his double sided 7 page handout is only a brief summary of what's really been going on and plans to follow up with an opportunity to break into small group discussions this coming Sunday, July 8th.

This session is broken into 3 video clips - attached:

Please join us this Sunday to continue with Part 2 and share some of your thoughts about this unfortunate struggle.

"5 minutes with George"

George Lai reminds us of the scripture we first learned when The Sunday Gathering began.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice Always
Pray without ceasing and
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Remembering scripture helps us to pray more often. The more scripture we know, the more we are pray. When we read scripture, we are praying!

Our challenge this week is from Matthew 6:25-34 (NRSV)

Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat, what you will drink,
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor
gather into barns,
and yet your heavenly father feeds them.
Are you not more value than they?
And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your
span of life?

And why do you worry about clothing?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;
They neither toil and spin; yet I tell you even Solomon
In all his glory was not clothed like one of these.

But if God so clothed the grass of the field, which is alive today,
and tomorrow it is thrown into the oven,
will he not much more clothe you---
you of little faith?

Therefore, do not worry, saying "what will we eat?"
or "what will we drink?" or "what will we wear?"
For it is the Gentiles that strive for all of these things.
And indeed your heavenly Father knows you need all of these things.

But strive first for the Kingdom of God and His righteousness,'and all these things will be given to you as well.
So do not worry about tomorrow;
for tomorrow will bring worries on its own.
Today's trouble is enough for today.
