Pastor Sebastian asks The Gathering questions regarding our discipleship as a member of FCBC:

Our Church theme for 2019 is inspired by a message from Matthew 28:16-20

The Great Commission NLV

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

What are the top 3 areas can we as individuals improve on as a church?

Group 1:
We have a tenancy to talk with people who we are comfortable with and may not speak openly to someone we don't know very well. We need to improve and talk to all and not be exclusive.
We are not competing with each other, we need to work together.

Group 2:
Can do better with our generosity of spirit.

Sacrifice: investment of our time and determine what your goals are. Get to know each other and create opportunities to be together like church retreats.

Group 3:
Attributes are not lacking but maybe can improve on patience, allow time for listening, exercise self control, practice acceptance when decisions are not favorably made, exercise self discipline such as daily devotion, encourage a daily relationship with God, possibly start a Bible Study.
Faithfulness; You can become a weekend warrior and not really practice the other 6 days of the week.

Humility: be humble. Then maybe we can all can agree to disagree and acknowledge that all parties opinions or feelings have value. Accept compromise, not insisting to be right, there is no winner, and pick your battles and think about what's important, peace and compromise.

Group 4:
Felt FCBC has many attributes; Patience is lacking and wants to have decisions made quickly, Self control can be improved and need to respond more spiritually, gentleness encouraged with our brothers and sisters.

How do you exercise self control with your friends, family, colleagues, church? Paul Chuck says he controls his environment and eliminates the possibility of adding stress. But it doesn't work for people who work with or has to deal with the public; cannot avoid them or colleagues or church members.

Suggestion, think about your spiritual disciplines: devotions, prayer, meditation, Bible study. You can see how Jesus practices discipline and read how many others practice discipline in the Bible.

Group 5:
Kindness: When we are faced with outsiders, we can sometimes feel threatened and we may not respond in a loving way. A homeless person came to the 3rd floor when children were present. Pastor Peter helped manage the situation and the homeless person said that the act was un Christian like. So, What do we do?

Understand self Control as how it relates to respecting others. Spend time with others more and get to know our membership and with time we can build respect for each other.
