George talks about The Book of Jonah

Jonah is composed of only 4 chapters. Jonah was considered to be a minor prophet because his book is pretty short.  Whoever wrote Jonah, wrote it after the exile, after 500 BC.  Scholars feel the book of Jonah is the most important book in the Old Testament. Uncertain who wrote Jonah.

George compares the book of Job and Jonah to a Super Bowl game.

The writer leaves the book open ended. It raises questions, if you look for them. Many theological questions may arise once you complete the book of Jonah.
Was Jonah really eaten by a fish? or is this meant to be satire?

The Book of Job is mainly about "why bad things happen to good people"
Jonah asks "Why do good things happen to bad guys?"

The eternal question.

Moses never saw the Promised Land, he suffered.
Jesus suffers on the cross.
Abraham also asks, "Do the righteous suffer?'

Our condolences to Clarence Chan and his family. His sister Nancy died a few days prior to The Gathering.
She was in the center of a cross walk near the Safeway at Ocean Beach and a vehicle hit her and she did not make it to the hospital.

We pray for Clarence, Margie, Charcoal and the rest of their family.
